Sometimes two worlds just fit together: on one side, amateur radio with its decades-long tradition; on the other, modern data center infrastructure right in the heart of Frankfurt. That's exactly the connection we're living out right now with VFDB chapter Z05.
velia.net is sponsoring VFDB chapter Z05 with a dedicated bare-metal server at Telehouse Frankfurt — one of Germany's central network hubs. The machine now hosts:
This gives the community a stable technical foundation it can rely on around the clock.
Z05 operates several repeaters across the region, including one on the Europaturm, bridging classic analog Funk with digital modes. The entire network is volunteer-run — and yet, or perhaps precisely because of that, the infrastructure behind it has to be rock-solid. Radio amateurs rightly expect their digital services to run just as reliably as their analog repeaters.
That's where we come in: reliable hardware in Germany's digital hub, so a community-run Amateurfunk network stays robust and future-proof — today and tomorrow.
Z05 is a volunteer-run Amateurfunk (amateur radio) chapter that operates repeaters across the Frankfurt region, including one on the Europaturm, bridging analog and digital radio modes.
The dedicated bare-metal server at Telehouse Frankfurt hosts Z05's websites, dashboards, statistics, and multimode platform, including 26269.de.
Even though the network is run by volunteers, members rely on it daily. A dedicated server at a major hub like Telehouse Frankfurt gives the chapter the stability and headroom a shared or budget setup can't guarantee.
A big thank you to the Z05 team for their great work — and a hearty 73 to everyone who keeps it on air.
Enterprise bare metal built for demanding workloads. No noisy neighbors, no virtualization overhead.
