Flexible Backup Scope
Choose what to back up: entire machine (bare metal image), individual disk volumes, or specific files and folders. All three options allow file-level restore regardless of which scope you selected.
Automated Backup Scheduling
Configure daily or custom backup schedules. Backups run automatically in the background: no manual trigger required. velia.net recommends daily backups for most production servers.
Incremental Backups
After the initial full backup, only changes are stored, reducing storage consumption and backup duration. Retention period is configurable based on your available storage quota.
Backup Encryption
Optional AES encryption can be enabled for your backup data. Encryption is configured per backup plan and applies to all data stored in the Acronis Cloud. Important: if the encryption password is lost, data cannot be recovered, not even by Acronis.
File-Level & Bare Metal Restore
Restore individual files and folders directly from the Acronis web console, or perform a full bare metal restore to recover a complete server image (including the Master Boot Record) to the same or replacement hardware via IPMI/iLO.
Web-Based Management Console
Manage all backups from the Acronis Management Console at eu.backup.velia.net (EMEA servers) or us.backup.velia.net (US servers). Configure plans, monitor status, and initiate restores from any browser.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. The Acronis Cyber Backup Cloud add-on is only available in combination with an active velia.net dedicated server. It cannot be ordered independently.
After your order is placed, you will receive an Acronis account activation email within 24 hours. This email contains your login credentials for the Acronis Management Console. Note that this is a separate account from your velia.net login.
For servers in Europe (Frankfurt, Strasbourg), backup data is stored in the Acronis Cloud in Frankfurt (EMEA region). For US-based servers, backup data is stored in Phoenix. Your backup data is geographically separate from your server: if your server's data center has an issue, your backup remains accessible.
Both options are available regardless of which backup scope you configured. You can restore individual files and folders from the Acronis web console, or perform a full bare metal restore of the entire server image, including the Master Boot Record. Bare metal restore is initiated via IPMI/iLO by mounting the Acronis restore ISO.
Yes, velia.net recommends enabling encryption for all backup plans. Encryption is optional by default but provides an important additional layer of protection for your backup data. Important: if you lose the encryption password, your backup data cannot be recovered, not even by Acronis. Store the password securely.
All backup data stored in the Acronis Cloud counts toward your quota, including the initial full backup and all subsequent incremental backups. The number of restore points you can retain depends on how frequently backups run and how much data changes between runs. The retention period is configurable in your backup plan.
Yes. Simply open a support ticket and specify how much additional storage you need. Our team will adjust your quota accordingly. Quotas above 1 TB are available on request.
The Acronis Cyber Backup agent supports all Linux distributions and Windows Server versions available on velia.net servers: Ubuntu (22.04, 24.04, 26.04 LTS), Debian (12, 13), AlmaLinux (9, 10), Rocky Linux (8, 9), CentOS Stream 10, and Windows Server (2019, 2022, 2025) Standard Edition.
